While there are two full-sized, regulation hardwood courts in the Boston Celtics' brand new practice facility, it was Dal-Tile's leading ceramic products that were selected for several other key areas inside.
Opened just two weeks ago, the Auerbach Center is a state-of-the-art, 70,000-sq. ft. space overlooking the Mass Pike in the city's Boston Landing neighborhood. The facility provides everything the 17-time NBA champions need for training and game preparation — all the way down to an on-site barber shop.
"This was a big project; we ultimately supplied the Celtics with more than 15,000 sq. ft. of product used throughout floors and walls of the facility," said Elisa Franklin, senior architectural representative.
Among the Dal-Tile products utilized prominently was the Daltile brand's AmbassadorTM, a unique ColorBody™ Porcelain product in the Stone Attaché™ collection that offers 12"x24" floor and wall pieces, as well as three-dimensional, interlocking mosaics in the same size.
Franklin was quick to credit great teamwork by Sales Representative Donald Watkins and Daltile Hartford SSC Manager Larry Labonte, who both helped the customer's project (two years in the making) stay on schedule.
The team locker room features Daltile Ambassador on the floor. Durastone Bluetooth porcelain mosaic tile was used on the walls of the facility's bathrooms.
In addition to Daltile Ambassador on the walls, the Auerbach Center's hydrotherapy space uses 3" hexagons and 2"x2" mosaics on the three pools and surrounding deck areas.
